Morning Pages | 16 October 2026
I had a successful trip away to the big, bad mainland yesterday for an appointment at the orthotics department at Crosshouse Hospital. I’m having some shoes made for me to correct my gait. My bad leg is considerably shorter and it’s causing me some problems. Of course, I had the usual anxiety about leaving the island and having to spend a whole day away, but it turned out to be quite a fun day. It’s a pleasure to sail into Ardrossan on the Caledonian Isles ferry, while we still have it. She’s comfortable like an old pair of shoes, haha.
I wrote on the ferry after my Calmac breakfast, but didn’t get round to posting. I’ll include those pages here below, so it’s a double dunter today.

And here are yesterday’s pages, written in an old school jotter, purloined from my daughter.
